I Do Not Believe This....

I HAVE A 18 YEAR OLD!

That is right, my baby is 18.

This is hard for me to believe but my oldest is officially an adult!

I had an opportunity to go up to his school this weekend and celebrate with him.

I was intentional about being present and enjoying my time with him and of course, watch him play some hockey!

.

While watching my teen in his environment it reminded me of what I want to make a priority in my own life.

My Big Takeaways From My Trip

ONE: SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE

Surround yourself with friends that make you laugh, feel comfortable being yourself, and have each others back.  My teen over the last couple of years has surrounded himself with a group of friends that are liked minded and supportive of each other's individual dreams.  Each of them supports each other achieving their best and having a blast along the way!

  • My big takeaway: build a community, where you can be yourself, enjoy each other's company, have some fun, and support each other along our life journeys.

TWO: TAKE ACTION

Take Action toward what you want.  He is clear on his goals.  He knows what he wants and each day he takes action.  The actions do not have to be massive each day but each action contributes to his overall goals.  He also allows himself to rest and makes it a priority.  He understands what his body needs and provides that for himself without feeling an ounce of guilt around it.

  • My big takeaway:  We all need rest to reach our goals. Stop feeling so darn guilty for lying around.  Even God took a day/week.  Rest is truly important!

THREE: BUILD YOUR TEAM

When you have big goals or even small ones.  You need a team.  Life is not meant to be done alone.  To strive for your best you have to have the right people on your team.  My teen doesn’t just have one coach.  He finds coaches that specialize in what he wants to work on.  He finds coaches that accomplished what he wants to accomplish.

He finds coaches that push him, that know the game, that can articulate his gaps and help him narrow those gaps.  When it is time to ramp up his strength and conditioning he finds a strength/conditioning trainer.   He understands the importance of nutrition and mindset and has a performance coach.  This kid invests in himself to reach his highest potential. He wants to strive and be the best version of himself and is putting in the work.

  • My big takeaway:  Bet on yourself, build your team.  Invest in yourself to be the best version of you.  We are not here to be mediocre.  We have this life to create and be what we always dreamed we could be.  Get support, don’t put it off another minute.

What you have to offer this world is needed, build your team of support and get to it!

And the last thing I took away from this trip.  When your son texts you: Thanks for coming and drive safe.  I took it as:  I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK AND YOU ARE THE BEST MOM EVER!   (well, that is my perspective on the text, and I like it, so I will continue to believe it.)

If you or your teen are ready to Take Action to reach your highest potential, let me be part of the team!   Having a life coach is a game changer to helping you reach your goals much sooner than without one.   Now is the time!  I am ALL IN, lets accomplish greatness together!
